Dreamweaver Practice #1

Practice your rollover graphics!

TOPIC: Your six favorite web sites of all time!!!! (Do not use any sites that are blocked by websense (i.e. MySpace), do not use links to sites we already did in class, and do not use the buttons we already created--you must duplicate what we did in class on your own for practice!!!)

1. Open a new web site in DREAMWEAVER .
   1. Go to Sites/Manage Sites.
   2. Select New/Sites.
   3. Go through the wizard on the "basic" tab. (Select "next" after each of the following options is entered.)
      1. Nickname (i.e. 3-Rollover Practice)
      2. "No to server technology
      3. Edit files locally and point to the folder of the web site (for this project, create a new folder in your Dreamweaver folder and call it Practice1.)
      4. Select FTP, then type in 10.4.1.125 (hostname/FTP address), (leave the next field bank under), logon (i.e. LARGOK --> last name and first initial only --in all caps!!)
      5. Don't put your password in!
2. Set up your background color in DW.
3. Open FIreworks and create a title graphic, saving it into a "graphics" folder in your Practice1e folder.
4. Create six buttons in Fireworks (see rollover handout for help). Export both of the "mouse on" and "mouse off"graphics.
5. Insert graphics as rollover graphics into Dreamweaver on you home page (index.html). (To create the new file - go to File/New/HTML and save the page into Practice1 as index.html).
6. Be sure to include your alt tags and your footer.
7. You're done!

Remember - spelling and grammatical errors take away from your overall grade!!!
